STAFF REPORTS
Work is scheduled to begin next week on a new bridge across IH-35 at Windy Hill Rd. between Buda and Kyle, in front of the Home Depot.
The Texas Department of Transportation will initially construct the bridge as a two-lane structure, but will be expanding it to four-lanes as future funding becomes available.
Last month, frontage roads between FM 2001 in Buda and FM 1626 in Kyle went one-way, improving safety but creating traffic issues in a historically rural area built around two-way access roads. TxDOT officials say the new bridge will help improve traffic flow.
The $7 million project is slated to last about 12 months. Occasional lane closures will take place at night between the hours of 8 p.m.-5 a.m., TxDOT officials say.
