I am wondering what is going on with our neighbors in Pct. 3 and their representation on the Commissioners Court.
You don’t get to see outbursts such as Will Conley’s very often. It is bad enough, a la Clayton Williams, to curse – in public and on the record – at a woman 20 years your senior in Texas. But his statement “You don’t understand how things are done here in Hays County” was perhaps most telling.
Judge Sumter has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and has held jobs within government as well as being a businesswoman. So I imagine she understands formulating good public policy. Commissioner Conley has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a minor in business. I expect he is a pretty good politician.
Judge Sumter knows exactly how certain things in Hays County are done – and some things continue to be done within the framework of the ‘good old boys’ network. That is what she campaigned against and that is what she has fought against.
I’m sure Commissioner Conley will indeed be ecstatic when Judge Sumter is gone – and the “way things are done in Hays County” goes back to what he is comfortable with. Score 1 for the good old boys.
Thanks!
