In Touch With Tourism
by ALISHA BURROW
While school will be in session soon, it’s never too late to make your fall vacation plans. As we say goodbye to those “hot summer nights,” Buda welcomes cool weather with some even “cooler” fall events.
Buda Fine Arts Festival
October 1- 3, 2010
The festival opens Friday evening with a Premier Art Event with live music from Austin featuring jazz performer, Liz Morphis, wine tasting and hors d’oeurves. Meet the artists, purchase fine art and select your favorite artist for the “Peoples Choice Award.” Plan to participate in the silent auction of donated artwork. Saturday and Sunday’s festival brings over 50-juried artists to Buda to exhibit fine art for sale.
Admission is free to the festival on Saturday and Sunday. Don’t miss the paper sculpture demonstrated by our 2010 featured artist, Shou Ping.
Oils, pastels, pottery, glass, mixed media, photography, sculpture, acrylics and fine jewelry from artists across Texas will be featured. The Buda Fine Arts Festival Committee brings fine art, Texas artists and a weekend full of live music and children’s events to Buda’s Historic Downtown. Proceeds from the festival support student artists from the Buda community by providing an opportunity to show their work as well as scholarships to Hays ISD students.
