Bigelow Homes plans to begin offering houses in Kyle’s Plum Creek development later this year, the Chicago-based builder’s second foray into Hays County.
Bigelow will offer 10 floor plans ranging from 1,100 to 3,000 square feet and priced between $120,000 and $200,000. The company plans to build in three areas of the 2,200 acre development, its representative said, including near Negley Elementary School, Plum Creek Square and Kohler’s Crossing.
“Creating points of interaction are a priority in Plum Creek. The presence of a neighborhood, places for people to enjoy friends and family, attracted us to the neighborhood. These elements don’t happen by chance – they are planned,” said Jamie Bigelow, Bigelow Homes’ chief executive officer.
Bigelow replaces two builders who dropped out of Plum Creek this year for financial reasons. Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Meritage Home Corp. scaled back its operations nationwide; Atlanta-based Bowen Family Homes closed most its operations nationally.
KB Homes has been building in Plum Creek since 2007.
Bigelow entered the Central Texas market in 2006 when it began building homes at Blanco River Village in San Marcos. The company also builds in San Marcos’ Franklin Square.
