Two Pflugerville residents were arrested Tuesday for fradulently using credit cards to purchase items at Cabela’s in Buda, authorities say.
Edgar Zandate, 30, and Olga Alfonso, 31, were detained by Cabela’s asset protection officers after allegedly using stolen credit cards at the store multiple times.
A victim in Rutherford, N.J., had advised Cabela’s of illegal purchases on his credit card. Cabela’s asset protection officers were then able to track the purchases and locate the suspects as well as their vehicle on video, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office says.
Once the suspects returned to Cabela’s, they were detained and handed over to sheriff’s office detectives. Both were arrested for credit card abuse, a state jail felony, and had several other questionable credit cards in their possession, the sheriff’s office says.
Detectives later executed a search warrant at the suspects’ address in Pflugerville and recovered a number of items that they believe were bought by fraudulent use of credit cards, authorities say.
As of Tuesday, Zandate and Alfonso remained in Hays County Jail on $5,000.00 and $10,000 bonds, respectively.
