SUBMITTED REPORT
The San Marcos City Council has announced three finalists for the position of city manager following two days of interviews.
They are Round Rock City Manager Jim Nuse; Peoria, Ill. City Manager Scott Moore and Kilgore City Manager Jeffrey Howell.
They will be invited back for a second round of interviews with the city council and a public meet-and-greet to be held 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22 at the city of San Marcos Conference Center, 3101 S. Interstate 35.
The city council interviewed five candidates Tuesday and Wednesday out of a field of 67 applicants for the position. In addition to the finalists, they interviewed Lawton, Okla. Assistant City Manager Bryan Long and Lake Jackson Assistant City Manager Modesto Mundo.
The candidates also met with Interim City Manager Laurie Moyer and the manager’s staff and toured the San Marcos community.
Kay Stroman of the Stroman Group, LLC, is coordinating the search and selection process for the City of San Marcos for city manager and city clerk. Stroman narrowed down the original group of city manager applicants to approximately 25, and then to seven, which were presented to the city council at the Sept. 7 meeting. The city council selected the five candidates to interview in person. Stroman is still accepting applications for the clerk post through Friday, September 17.
Profiles for both positions are posted online at www.sanmarcostx.gov
