Old Town Buda will be bustling this weekend with the Buda Fire Fest and Buda Fine Arts Festival taking place on opposite ends of Main Street.
In its 53rd year, Fire Fest, benefiting the Regional Live Fire Training Center, is scheduled for Friday and Saturday in Buda City Park. Festivities include a golf tournament, bull riding competition, firefighter challenge, kids firefighter challenge, a barbecue cookoff and, of course, the Little Miss Fire and Miss Fire pageants.
Country music singer Tracy Lawrence will headline Friday’s live music acts which also include the Turnpike Troubadours. Mark Chesnutt performs on Saturday as does Kristen Kelly & the Modern Day Drifters.
Fire Fest runs from 5 p.m. to midnight on Friday, and 9 a.m. to midnight on Saturday. For information, visit the event’s website at firefesttexas.com.
Buda Fine Arts Festival will take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the greenbelt along Main Street.
The festival kicks off 7 p.m. Friday with the premier art event, Art After Dark featuring artist Shou-Ping and a live jazz performance by Liz Morphis. Admission to the event is $15 at the door.
The festival continues 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Live music acts include Morris Nelms, Sally Allen, W M David, James Corry, Phil and Debi Jones of Sunrise Ministries and The Blue Hit.
Admission to the festival is free.
