Downtown Buda serves as a safe and fun opportunity for children to trick-or-treat for Halloween and includes Halloween stories, crafts, games, and more Halloween fun at the Buda Public Library. The event will be held on Thursday, October 28 from 6 – 8 p.m. Downtown will be filled with local businesses and organizations giving away free candy and other items. If your business and/or organization would like to participate, please contact the Buda Parks and Recreation Department to register.

Christmas cheer will radiate as the Buda Trail of Lights returns for the second year of fun, fellowship, music, and holiday splendor at Historic Stagecoach Park. Mark your calendars for December 16 -22 from 6 – 10 p.m. and don’t miss out on this free family event. Park visitors will enjoy a spectacular display of twinkling lights illuminating Historic Stagecoach Park with various Christmas scenes and themes. If your business and/or organization would like to participate, please contact the Buda Parks and Recreation Department to register.

The City of Buda is seeking residents who have the time and desire to serve their community by volunteering for the Parks and Recreation Commission. The Commission is comprised of seven members appointed by the City Council to fill two-year terms. The role of the Commission is to act in an advisory capacity to the City Council with advice and recommendations on all policies, rules, and regulations relating to the administration of a public park and recreation program. In addition, the Commission makes recommendations to the City Council on all matters regarding parks, recreation, open space, and trails and will assist in the future development of Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan for Buda.

The Buda Downtown Farmers Market is now open to the public to provide local residents and businesses of the community with the freshest, highest quality, most nutritious, and most reasonably priced locally grown produce and goods. The Downtown Buda Farmers Market will be open Thursday, October 7, from 2– 6 p.m. at 400 Main Street and Saturdays in October and November from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in the city parking lot across from Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant. If you are interested in volunteer opportunities or an interested farmer or gardener wanting to sell your produce and goods at the Buda Farmers Market, please contact the Market Manager at (512) 773-7128 or email budamarketmanager@gmail.com.
