Hilda Katie Luedecke Gage was born June 4, 1918 near Ottine, Texas, Gonzales County. She graduated school in Slayden, Texas. Hilda married William J. Gage on September 19, 1937. They had four children, Kay Prather and husband Larry of Austin, Bill Gage of Austin, Margaret Jordon and husband Jack D. of Kyle, Gerald and Carol Sue Gage of Buda.
Hilda was a lifelong member of Creedmoor Eastern Star Chapter #607. She had also been a member of Western Trails Garden Club. She was a housewife, rancher, trailer park owner, aunt and grandmother. Hilda made her home available to anyone who needed a place to stay in Austin whether it was due to schooling or a meeting place for Brownies. She often babysat for her grandchildren after school and her home became a gathering place for neighborhood children. She enjoyed her New Year’s Day Dinners with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Joe Gage; grandson, William Clayton Gage; sisters, Erna Miller and Gertrude Hanzalik; brothers, Walter Luedecke, Herman Luedecke, Erich Luedecke; parents, Herman and Hermine Heiland Luedecke.
She is survived by nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Heinz Luedecke and wife Annie of Victoria, Texas; and many nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, October 8, 2010 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel. Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery. Pastor Tim Anderson of St. John’s Lutheran Church officiating.
