STAFF REPORT
The 43-year-old wife of a Hays High School soccer coach died in a two-vehicle collision last week, authorities say.
Johnna Puckett Reynolds of Driftwood was traveling northbound in a Dodge Durango along Ranch Road 12, just north of Fitzhugh Road, when a Chevy Silverado heading in the opposite direction crossed into her lane and hit her vehicle head-on around 8 a.m. on June 21, a Department of Public Safety official said.
Emergency crews transported Reynolds to Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, where she died the next day. The other driver, Mary Lewis, 49, of Dripping Springs, sustained broken bones and lacerations. It’s still unknown if charges will be filed against Lewis, the official said.
Reynolds was the wife of Hays High girls soccer head coach Cole Reynolds, Hays CISD officials confirmed.
According to her obituary, Reynolds taught both kindergarten and physical education at Bee Cave Elementary School in the Lake Travis ISD since 1999.
A memorial service for Reynolds was held Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Dripping Springs. In addition, a memorial fund has been set up to support the further education of her son and daughter, aged 9 and 12 years respectively.
Contributions can be made to the Johnna Reynolds Memorial Fund, account #252039, at any APlus Federal Credit Union, or mailed to the credit union at P.O. Box 14867, Austin, TX. 78761.
