The Texas State football team began its fall camp on Monday with its first practice beginning at 6:30 p.m. on the Texas State practice field located behind the Bobcat Baseball/Softball Complex.
Texas State is playing in its first NCAA Division I FBS conference this season when the Bobcats play in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). The Bobcats kick off the 2012 season at Houston at 7 p.m. Sept. 1. Comcast Sports will televise that game.
Texas State plays its first home game in the newly renovated Bobcat Stadium on Sept. 8 when the Bobcats play host to Texas Tech at 6 p.m. The Bobcats play their first WAC game at 6 p.m. Oct. 13 when they play host to Idaho.
Head coach Dennis Franchione welcomes back 48 lettermen and 18 starters from last year’s team who finished the season with a 6-6 record. Texas State will begin its fall camp with 105 players on Monday.
The Bobcats will practice in helmets, practice jerseys and shorts on through Wednesday before adding shoulder pads on Thursday. Texas State will practice in full pads at 8 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, and hold its first two-a-day workouts on Saturday, Aug. 11.
