J. Edward Cherryholmes , 81, of Denton, TX, born July 25, 1931, Columbus, OH, died Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 4 Seasons Hospice. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and to many a thoughtful and caring pastor and friend. He was a 1950 graduate of South High School, Columbus, OH, Otterbein College, Westerville, OH and United Seminary, Dayton, OH. He was also a retired United Methodist minister who for over 43 years served churches in Ohio, Michigan and Texas. He served First United Methodist Church of Kyle from 1992- 1997. His column “Perspectives” has appeared in the Hays Free Press, he was the author of “Eyewitness to History,” a book about the Kennedy Assassination, an accomplished vocalist, active in drama, having appeared as Willy Loman in “Death of a Salesman,” and an avid sports enthusiast, especially Ohio State football.
Preceded, in death by his parents, Joseph and Ruth Cherryholmes, daughter, Lee Ann Cherryholmes, sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Sid Smart. Survived by his loving wife of 34 years the Rev. Eleanor Cozad Cherryholmes, son, Charles (Susan), Lincoln City, OR, step-son, David Underwood (Claudia), LaPorte, IN, step-daughter, Annette Underwood, Confier, CO; grandchildren Bradley Nichols, Breanna Shrode, Charles Cherryholmes, Mallory Cherryholmes, Amber Underwood, Brandon Kaiser, three great grand-children, three nieces, Becky Bechtel (Larry), Brenda Tyler, Beverly Groth; four great-nieces, three great-nephews, one great-great-niece.
Service to Worship God and in memory of Ed will be 1 p.m., Saturday, January 26 at Amlin United Methodist Church, 5441 Cosgray Rd., Dublin, OH.
