The month of May is Older American Act celebration month and the Area on Aging would like to celebrate with the seniors in Buda by presenting a program on Wednesday, May 21, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Onion Creek Senior Center. Karen Abrams, who performs at the Kerrville Music Festival, will provide music and storytelling. A lunch will be served at noon for a small fee, which will benefit the Onion Creek Senior Center. Just what we need help with and the Buda Library is ready to offer instructions. Device Advice will be Thursday, May 29 from 2 to 4 p.m. to give help with a tablet, phone or other mobile device. Learn how to download an e-book or magazine from the library; install apps, email a picture and so much more. Bring your mobile device, know your password and bring your questions. Andrea Russo was the lucky winner of the Mother’s Day basket given away on Saturday by the Shops on Main (Little Bluebird, Red Door and Old Main Street Station). Russo is the mother of two young children and also is a teacher in the Hays school district.

Join the Country & Western dancers Thursday, May 15, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the senior activity center at 420 Barton’s Crossing in Buda for their third Thursday night dance. Music will be by Rob Carter. The kitchen will be open from 5:30 until 8:30 p.m. and the event is open to the public. There will be a charge for the dance and food.

The Buda Masonic Lodge #800 is inviting the public to attend the presentation of the Golden Trowel award to Brother Preston Schultz, Friday May 23, 7 p.m. at Buda City Hall. The Golden Trowel Award is the highest award given to a Brother Mason for his consistent, outstanding service.
