Jenny Henderson, left, reunited with Benjamin Rylander, 4, of San Marcos Tuesday night when she was recognized at the city council meeting by Kyle Police Chief Jeff Barnett for her heroic efforts to save the boy from a near drowning April 28 at the Plum Creek commmunity pool. Benjamin and his family were attending a party.
Henderson, who lives in Plum Creek, said she noticed Benjamin floating and turned him over, got him out of the pool and performed CPR while emergency services personnel were en route.
Barnett also recognized the efforts of more than 20 police, firefighters and paramedics who helped save the boy. He was flown to Dell Children’s Hospital in Austin and spent several days on life support.
Kyle Fire Chief Kyle Taylor expressed his thanks to all the emergency personnel who “worked together to make the outcome what it should have been.”
Benjamin’s mother, Alba, said she is happy he is well and he had no lasting health problems from the incident.
