Homes in the Rolling Hills and Green Pastures neighborhoods in far east Kyle are under a boil water notice after the Goforth Water Supply Corporation ruptured a main water line.
A boil water notice was issued for those two neighborhoods early Tuesday morning, Monarch Utilities area director Gary Rose said in a July 1 email to Kyle city officials.
Goforth Water Supply field director John Gerard said contractors were working on upgrading company water lines when they accidently ruptured a Monarch Utilities’, a subsidiary of SouthWest Water Company, main water line at Windy Hill and Palomino roads.
Gerard said the ruptured line was repaired by about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Once the repairs are completed, Rose said the service line would be disinfected and affected areas would be flushed. He said bacteriological samples will be collected and submitted to their contract laboratory.
The boil water notice is expected to be lifted after bacteriological samples yield negative results for Total Coliform bacteria. Rose said that turn around should be about 18 hours.
While the Amberwood and Indian Paintbrush neighborhoods in Kyle were not included in the boil water notice, homeowners could experience a temporary change in water pressure, Rose said.
