Regarding Ms. Poers letter to the editor regarding her negative disposition on downtown Buda:
She obviously takes the matter out of context, i.e. “They unanimously agreed they want Buda to retain its ‘Old Time Charm’” does not address her accusation.
I know many people living in the downtown area (and beyond) who enjoy and support the (now) vibrant old town charm that includes wonderful “home-style” prepared foods, local businesses (offices, doctors, shopping, coffee shop, pharmacy…) and local arts (music, antiques…).
Being a Buda resident for nearly 20 years and in my 50s, my family and friends can now enjoy spending time in “my” downtown. Thank you to the City of Buda and hardworking business owners for putting some “life” back into the beautiful and historic downtown area that allows for the preservation of our history – a huge turn from the dilapidated ghost town it was heading toward.
For years I was witnessing vagrants living (and destroying) abandoned buildings and houses. It’s now a much different and pleasant place with much more positive things to come. I encourage all to experience it for yourself and give downtown Buda a visit and enjoy the positive growth that is saving our history and charm.
