STAFF REPORT
Plum Creek’s Rock the Porch public art initiative is back again this year and they are currently looking for artists. Rock the Porch seeks artists to create music-inspired pieces of art that will beautify the area and spark conversations throughout the community. The initiative is an opportunity to showcase the creative talent of the people of Hays County, while creating places for people to engage and interact with one another and each piece of artwork. Rock the Porch invites Central Texas artists, individuals and groups to create rocking chair sculptural pieces of art that will be on display in public places around the city of Kyle. The application period is open from now until Aug. 15. The chairs will then be revealed to the public at a concert during Plum Creek’s annual Hootenanny on the Hill event on Oct. 11, where attendees will vote on their favorite chair.
