Marcus “Mark” Lee Beam, Sr. was born June 26, 1975, in Enid, Oklahoma to Kathryn Juarez and Melvin Jessie Beam. He passed away in Kyle, Texas, on Aug. 4, 2014, at the age of 39. He was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy Penn, Jr.
Mark was a skilled carpenter who took pride in his work. He was a perfectionist. He’d be the type of person you would be nervous to show your DIY shelves to, because he could spot a flaw from a mile away. But he would always tell you that it looked good.
At a young age he met his former wife, Karey Guidry Acheson, and they started a family with Karey’s son, Cameron Scott Guidry, and the birth of their son, Marcus Lee Beam, Jr.
After their separation, they remained close for their son. Marcus was so proud of his son Marcus, Jr. The love and admiration for his son showed in his eyes. To see the relationship they had was like two good friends born too many years apart. It was nonstop joking and playing around.
Mark Beam, Sr. is survived by his mother, Kathryn, and stepfather, Willie Juarez, his brothers Shane Beam, Chance Juarez, Beau Juarez, Mika Juarez, son Marcus Lee Beam, Jr, former spouse Karey and her son Cameron, his sisters Billie Jo (William), Brigette (Bryan), Wendy (James), and his nieces and nephews Chris, Amber, Ashley, Jessica, Riley and Keely.
“He once was here and now he’s gone
Our hearts go with him to beyond
We loved him dearly with all of our might
And still do though he is out of sight
We held him high when he was here
And we know in our hearts he’ll always be near
In loving memory of our dearest Mark
May you be our light when we’re in the dark.”
A private memorial service held at a later date.
