A live bat was found over the weekend outside a home in the Amberwood subdivision in Kyle, city officials said Thursday.
After examination by the Department of State Health Services it was found that the bat tested positive for rabies, officials said.
The bat was found on the front porch of a home in the 1500 block of Amberwood Loop minutes before 8 p.m. on Aug. 24.
Anyone who may have come in physical contact with the bat is asked to call Kyle Animal Control at (512) 268-3232. The Department of State Health Services Zoonosis Control can be reached at (254) 778-6744.
