A former Hays High softball standout continues her excellence on the diamond and in the classroom.
On July 30, Hays High alumna, now Georgetown University freshman, Hannah Ramsey was named to the Big East Conference All-Academic team for the 2013-14 school year.
Ramsey was one of 2,000 student-athletes selected to the team from the 15 member and affiliate schools in the Big East.
To be eligible, student-athletes must attain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.00. They must complete a minimum of two consecutive semesters of academic work, totaling 18 semester credits.
Ramsey, who is majoring in Biology, maintained a 3.5 GPA for the 2013-14 academic year.
Earning Big East All-Academic status adds to a prestigious list of accomplishments for Ramsey.
A three-year letterwinner in softball and volleyball at Hays, Ramsey garnered first team 27-4A volleyball All-District honors in 2012 as a middle blocker; second team All-District in 2010 and 2012. She named to the Academic All-District team between the years of 2010-2012, and was named to the Academic All-State volleyball team in 2012.
Softball saw Ramsey excel with back-to-back selections to the 27-4A All District team in 2012 and 2013 as a center fielder. She was second team All-District in 2010 and 2011 as a shortstop. Ramsey was also selected to the Academic All-District team from 2010 to 2013, and was tabbed to as Academic All-State softball team in 2013.
She also earned State Tournament MVP and was selected to the All-State team following the Lady Rebels state championship in 2013.
Ramsey tallied 11 runs during her freshman year for the Hoyas. She also had a fielding percentage of 92 percent. As a freshman, Ramsey started 17 games and made 34 appearances for the Hoyas.
