STAFF REPORT
An active homicide investigation in Kyle may keep students at bay at several Hays CISD campuses, according to officials.
Hays CISD officials said on their Facebook page that transportation might be affected for some students at Pfluger and Science Hall Elementary Schools, Chapa Middle School and Lehman High School, as police continue a homicide investigation at an east Kyle neighborhood, Hays County Sheriff’s officials have confirmed.
Authorities have shut down Dove Lane at Red Bird Trail, in the Dove Hills neighborhood.
“We do not know if the road will reopen in time for school buses to run,” Hays CISD said on its Facebook page.
District officials said they are in the process of notifying parents of students housed in the affected school campuses. Children can be picked up at their school campus at the end of the school day, though some parents may not be presently able to leave neighborhoods near the police investigation.
“Please call your child’s campus if you are unable to pick them up after school,” Hays CISD said. “The campuses will remain open for the affected students until all are safely home.”
Sheriff’s officials have not released any details surrounding their investigation other than authorities are involved in an active homicide investigation.
Area neighbors have said a young male may have been stabbed, though authorities have not confirmed those details at this time.
This is a developing story and we’ll keep you up to date with the latest details as they become available.
