The Kyle Police Department is searching for a suspect who robbed a Kyle area bank in broad daylight Monday morning.
Kyle’s first bank robbery in five years occurred at 9:25 a.m. Monday at the First Convenience Bank. The branch is located inside of the HEB Plus grocery store at 5402 South FM 1626.
According to a City of Kyle press release, the suspect is a white male is approximately 60 to 70 years old. The suspect is believed to be 5’10” in height and weighs approximately 150 to 170 pounds.
The suspect has light colored eyes, silver to grey hair and had stubble. He was last seen wearing a burnt orange Texas Longhorn cap, tan to gray colored long sleeve button down shirt, and black tennis shoes with white sole trim.
A still photograph from the HEB surveillance cameras show the suspect leaving the store in a small red SUV, which travelled in a southeasterly direction.
“We’re still looking for anyone with information that may have seen the [suspect] going from the store,” Kyle Police Chief Jeff Barnett said.
According to the release, the suspect entered the grocery store and walked to the bank counter at 9:25 a.m., then presented a note to the teller, which stated, “Give me all the money you have and no one gets hurt.”
The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of money.
Monday’s incident marks the second time a bank branch within the HEB Plus has been robbed.
The International Bank of Commerce (IBC) branch in the store was robbed on January 3, 2009.
