Long time Buda resident, Barbara Pecuch, was presented with the Community Builder Award by the Buda Masonic Lodge on Wed., Oct. 22 at Buda City Hall. The award was given to Pecuch in recognition of her distinguishable service and personal contribution and dedication to the community of Buda, Texas. This award is the highest given to an outstanding individual in the community (non-Mason) who has distinguished themselves through their service to the community. Thank you, Barbara.
There were fun times for hundreds of kids and their parents on Sat. in downtown Buda. Tons of treats were given out by the local downtown merchants and other businesses that set up along the Main Street. Special thanks go out to all who participated and especially to the volunteers and local law enforcement officers who keep us all safe for the evening.
Do remember that you can “sell back” candy at the offices of Dr. Taylor and Dr. Strickland at 220 Main Street on Sat., Nov. 1. Drop off your unopened candy between the hours of 10 and 2.

For the past 30 years, I have been working for this newspaper doing everything from selling advertising, to accounting, to writing obits or whatever else came along that I could do. Most of all I have been writing about the Buda area. Now the time has come that I want to give up some of my duties at the Free Press. I hope to just write my “Buda Bits” once or twice a month; whatever the big boss will let me do. I appreciate all the folks who have sent me information to include in my column and do hope that I will continue to get your bits.
The Hays Free Press sign will still be out at the 122 Main Street location, so feel free to stop by to leave information for the paper or pick up one or just to chat. I will still be around town.
