Five candidates were interviewed in executive session as finalists for Kyle’s vacant city manager position during a special called Kyle City Council meeting Saturday.
But with no action taken by council, it’s still undetermined who will be hired as the next city manager in Kyle.
Of the five finalists interviewed, three currently hold city manager positions. Copperas Cove city manager Andrea Gardner, Kilgore city manager Scott Sellers and Bryan Long, city manager in Lawton, OK, were interviewed by the Kyle City Council.
In addition, Wichita Falls assistant city manager Kevin Hugman and former Round Rock city manager Steve Norwood were also interviewed.
Kyle seeks to fill the city manager vacancy after Lanny Lambert resigned in August to take the city manager position in Converse. In September, the Kyle council hired the search firm Strategic Government Resources (SGR) to assist in finding city manager candidates. Kyle assistant city manager James Earp has taken the role of interim city manager during the search.
Council is slated to continue discussions on the city manager search at their regular meeting on Tuesday. No timetable has been set toward the selection of Kyle’s next city manager.
