Staff Report
For the first time in district history, Hays and Lehman High schools will combine forces to host the Hays CISD boys and girls basketball tournament on December 4-6.
The two tournaments take place with Lehman’s Lobo and Silver and Hays’ Bales and Graham gyms as the backdrops.
A total of 16 teams will take part in the girls tournament. Familiar squads include Vista Ridge, which is currently the top ranked team in Class 5A, along with Incarnate Word and Cibolo Steele. Several newcomers join the fray, including Doncaster and Port Lavaca Calhoun.
On the boys side, 12 teams will participate, with state ranked Pflugerville Connally leading the way. Several other teams include Smithson Valley, Magnolia and Austin McCallum.
Up until this season, the tournaments had operated as the Rebel Classic, which was held exclusively at Hays High.
