Iva Jo Wallace was born on April 13, 1932, in Bowie, Texas. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 22, 2014.
Iva attended Weslaco High School. She worked at the Weslaco Theater where she met the love of her life, Henry “Hank” Wallace, Jr. Henry and Iva were married on August 9, 1950. Iva was a member of Southwest Christian Church in Austin, Texas, before moving to Buda. She visited First Baptist Church of Kyle on several occasions.
Iva was a marvelous cook and seamstress. She made beautiful dresses and uniforms for her four beautiful daughters. Iva worked as a bookkeeper for Sears and Roebuck Company and retired after 23 years of service. She managed the Motel 6 in San Marcos for 10 years with her husband Hank. She taught Sunday School, helped with her daughters’ Brownie troops, worked with the PTA and helped out in many other organizations.
Iva was preceded in death by her husband Henry Orge Wallace Jr. “Hank” and her father and mother Arie Ott and Opal Gladys Ricketts.
She is survived by her brother Bobby Ricketts, wife Roycee of Corpus Christi, Texas; her sister Versa Martin, husband George of Flower Bluff, Texas; her four daughters Vikki Warren, husband James of Highland Haven, Texas, Susan Wallace of Plano, Texas, Kaye Sparks of Plano, Texas, Nell Whitehouse, husband Denny of Buda, Texas; four grandchildren Brit Sparks of Chicago, Illinois, Katie McClendon, husband Mark of Kyle, Texas, Jared Warren of San Antonio, Texas and Lance Whitehouse of Buda, Texas; one great-grand-daughter, Kimber Jo McClendon and one great-grand-son, on the way, Ryan McClendon.
Iva had many health issues but the most recent was congestive heart failure and pneumonia. Iva and her family would like to thank the many nurses and doctors that provided care at Seton Hays Hospital, Brodie Ranch Rehabilitation Center and St. David’s Hospital in South Austin along with EMS and firefighters who transported her to the hospital. They were loving and professional and went above and beyond what was expected.
The angels in heaven were rejoicing with her as she met her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her beloved Hank in Heaven.
