One person was injured Wednesday after a car crashed into the front of the Texas State Optical building, located at 5401 South FM 1626 in Kyle, near the HEB Plus.
City of Kyle spokesperson Jerry Hendrix said the incident occurred around 3 p.m. The driver of the vehicle, Patrick Brashear, 54, of Kyle, was shaken up but “did not appear” to be injured, according to Hendrix. A customer inside of the store was injured and was transported to Seton Medical Center Hays in Kyle. The identity and condition of the injured person is unknown at this time.
Hendrix said Brashear was traveling northbound in the parking lot when the engine revved up unexpectely. The car soon began to speed out of control, with Brashear attempting to, but unable to stop his vehicle. It is unknown at this time what caused the vehicle to accelerate suddenly.
Brashear’s vehicle clipped two cars and hit a shopping cart before careening into the TSO building. Hendrix said the injured person was struck when the car slammed into the building.
According to Hendrix, there were no other injuries as a result of the crash.
