The commissioners approved a resolution supporting legislation to establish the proper local regulation of commercial and non-exempt groundwater production in aquifer areas currently outside of the respective groundwater conservation districts.
Judge Bert Cobb told those in attendance to bring solutions, not more problems, to Thursday’s public meeting, which takes place at the government center.
“I’ve been seeing mobs created and this is too important for ‘us against them’ — this has to be an ‘us’ movement,” Cobb said. “We all know what the problems are, now let’s get together and find a solution. Don’t continue to threaten my life and my body, I will press charges. Don’t come to Thursday’s meeting and act like children or you will be treated like children. Thursday is when I want you to give us your ideas on how we move forward.”
