Evelyn Marie Hargett, 89, wife of retired Air Force Senior Master Sergeant LeRoy W. Hargett, went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, in the early morning of Jan. 29, 2015. Evelyn had been diagnosed with a Stage IV rare cancer, leiomayosarcoma, in October 2014. She had been in hospice a short while before losing the battle with cancer, yet winning the battle of her faith in Christ. Married for a little over 72 years, the couple has four children: LeRoy W. Hargett, Jr. (1943-1960); Karen S. Hargett; Jennifer A. Raley and husband, Marion; and John B. Hargett and wife, Lisa. The couple has four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren by way of family and love: Karen’s daughter Sherry Lynn and her son Matthew; Jennifer’s step-son Geoffrey; and John & Lisa’s oldest son William with Kate and her daughter Lilly, and youngest son Justin.
Services will be held at Harrell Funeral Home in Kyle,TX on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015. Visitation was from 5-7 p.m., on February 3, 2015, at Harrell Funeral Home. Interment will be Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio at later date.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Evelyn’s favorite charities: Salvation Army or Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). Though they had not yet contributed to Wounded Warrior, we know she had a burden for wounded warriors and the family would be pleased if you made donation to Wounded Warrior Project.
Family and friend pallbearers were John B. Hargett, William A. Hargett, Justin T. Hargett, Larry E. Hargett, Michael Hemby and Isaac Hemby.
Thank you to all the caring people at Gentiva Hospice, along with Connie Sandoval and Mary Duran of Cella Bella Senior Service for all of the care they provided during this time.
