Vegas Knight
An evening filled with casino games, prizes and fun awaits. Whether you’ve never played before and would like to learn, have played a lot, or just like to watch the excitement at the tables, this is the event for you. At Vegas Knight, adults “pretend” they’re gambling big, but are actually just contributing to a Knights of Columbus fund raiser. Play black-jack, craps, roulette, and a variety of other games. Appetizers, food and soft drinks provided with admission, as well as $5,000 in poker chips to start the night. Additional poker chips can be purchased. Admission also includes one reverse raffle number (of 200) for a chance to win $500. This event is designated B.Y.O.B. Please be reasonable and responsible in any amounts brought to the event. HeART for the Schroers Family
On Jan. 3 this family’s home was struck by lightning in the middle of the night and burned down. The family has had to relocate and will be displaced for months on end while the home is rebuilt. This painting class, Heart for the Schroers Family, will help support them as they rebuild their lives. Takes place at 7 p.m. Feb. 7 at Creative Escape, FM 967 Suite A-107 in Buda. Head to Wimberley on Feb. 7 at 6 p.m. for the annual My Neighbor’s Keeper community fundraiser. Party in the streets, the opera house and the Silver Spoon cafe at Pioneer Town/7A Resort, with 3 bands, gumbo cook-off, costume contest, lots of food, drinks and fun. Let’s Rodeo!
Head down to the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo for boot-stompin’ good times. Catch musical performances by some of country’s biggest names including Brad Paisley, Reba, Keith Urban and Billy Currington. Other performances include John Legend, Newsboys, Banda Los Recoditos, Styx and Jeff Foxworthy. Families will enjoy animal adventures, cowboy boot camp, a dairy center, horse discovery, petting zoo and pony rides. Takes place Feb. 12-Mar. 1 at the AT&T Center.

Heather Christle is the author of three poetry collections: What is Amazing, The Difficult Farm, and The Trees The Trees, which won the 2012 Believer Poetry Award. Her poems have appeared in the “Boston Review,” “Gulf Coast”, “The New Yorker,” and “The Best American Poetry.” She has taught poetry at Antioch College, Sarah Lawrence College, the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Emory University, where she was the 2009-2011 Poetry Writing Fellow. She is the Web Editor for jubilat and frequently a writer in residence at the Juniper Summer Writing Institute. A native of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, she lives in Yellow Springs, Ohio.
