A Streetcar Named Desire
Texas State University’s production of A Streetcar Named Desire, directed by Michael Costello, opens on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Patti Strickel Harrison Theatre in Texas State’s new Performing Arts Center. The show will run Feb. 17-21 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. Award-winning actress Shirley Knight will give a talkback about Tennessee Williams and A Streetcar Named Desire immediately following Friday evening’s performance. Talkin’ about tomatoes
On Sunday, Feb. 15, gardener Kevin Callaway will give advice on top varieties of tomatoes, soil conditions and fertilizers to ensure you’ll have a bumper crop this spring. It will also mark the historic launch of Kevin’s new Cherokee Ranch hybrid. The free lecture begins at 2 p.m. at It’s About Thyme in Manchaca.
Mardi Gras parade
On Feb. 14 head to San Marcos for the 3rd annual Mardi Gras parade. The parade begins at noon and will run through Belvin Street from Bishop to the private alley just before Scott Street. Among the highlights scheduled are unicyclists, representatives from Texas State University’s Color Guard and more.
