The Lehman Lady Lobos soccer team earned another definitive victory against the Del Valle Cardinals, claiming a 2-0 win Wednesday night at Lobo Field.
The Lady Lobos had previously trounced Del Valle 9-0 on Jan. 27. The final score of Wednesday’s game fails to reveal the true dominance shown by head coach Nauri Garcia’s club against the visiting Lady Cardinals.
Lehman opened up the game with a headshot for a goal less than two minutes after the opening whistle.
That followed up with a Riley Blok bending laser shot from 15 yards out only 6:25 into the match.
The Lobos maintained possession of the ball for the majority of the game, allowing Del Valle only two shots on goal for the entire contest. On the other end, the Lady Lobos had 17 shots on goal.
Pamela Lasprilla and Messly Navarro contributed to many of Lehman’s near goals.
Despite playing in chilly temperatures, the Lobos maintained their lead for the remainder of the game with excellent ball handling and passing, until they could find solace in their warm locker-room.
The Lobos are currently 4-4-1 in district play and are holding onto the last playoff spot in 6A District 14. Anderson and Austin High both hold 2-3-1 records behind Lehman.
With only five games remaining in the regular season, the Lady Lobos control their own destiny to maintain a playoff spot.
Though tough matchups against Lake Travis (6-1) and Westlake (9-0) remain on the schedule, the Lady Lobos should be able to coast through the remainder of the season if their passing and possession abilities continue.
