UPDATE, 10:53 a.m.
According to Kyle Fire Department Chief Kyle Taylor, nine of the 16 affected units at the CubeSmart Self Storage Facility were “pretty much a total loss.”
The remaining seven units suffered smoke damage. The owners of the affected units have been contacted by management.
As of now, the cause is still undetermined.
EARLIER
The Kyle Fire Department, along with fire crews from across Hays County, continue to work on a fire that has affected 16 units at the CubeSmart Self Storage Facility, located at 701 Goforth Road, in Kyle.
According to Kyle Fire Department Chief Kyle Taylor, the 16 affected units were located on the southeast side of the property along Goforth Road. The extent of the damage to the units is unknown at this time.
Taylor said fire crews were dispatched to the scene at around 5:30 a.m. Friday morning. The Kyle Fire Department along with the Buda, San Marcos, North and South Hays County Fire Departments and the San Marcos/Hays County EMS are on the scene.
Traffic has been blocked off between Elmhurst Drive and Bluestem Street on Gorforth Road. Taylor said Goforth Road would be closed for several more hours.
The cause of Friday’s fire is unknown at this time. No injuries were reported. Be sure to check back with the Hays Free Press for more information.
