To find out what’s going on nowadays in Mountain City, you only need access to the Internet.
We decided to stay an extra day at Mom’s in deep east Texas, what with the rains and son-in-law chores. Yet, it looks like I can piece together a column.
Mayor Tiffany Curnutt, Loving Mountain City’s “lead” for the annual Easter egg hunt posted on LMC’s Facebook page a photo and extended thanks to Karlyn Ellis and her family for their assistance. Her post at 5:30 after the 4 p.m. hunt on Saturday gives a little glimpse into the extent of her efficiency.
Congratulations to the Golden Egg prize winners: Amelia, Colton, and Chase.
Parents and grandparents posted kudus to Tiffany for the biggest and best ever hunt with thousands of eggs painstakingly stuffed in the Curnutt’s living room.
The Mountain City egg hunt tradition was started by Everett and Beth Smith in the 80s. Even this year, Judge Smith provided the grand prizes.
Janet Patterson posted pretty photos of her grandchildren on the LMC Facebook page.
Resurrection Sunday family photos were posted on the Facebook pages of Eric Perucca and Stephanie Jamail.
At the 10 o’clock hour on Sunday morning, I checked my iPhone for Mountain City’s weather and smiled to see an indication of fine mist, an indication that Fellowship Church was celebrating the resurrection at Shelton Stadium, as planned.
On Thursday, when meteorologists projected rain on Sunday morning, Pastor Jonathan called on the church to pray that God would hold back the rains, reminding us of the mighty power that raised Jesus from the grave.

In late March, in mountaincity.nextdoor.com Gary White mentioned his first sighting this season of a rat snake and a reminder to be on the lookout for coral snakes and rattlesnakes.
Some folks have no fear of the venomous coral snake because of its small mouth. I saw reason to fear when I worked in the regional office in Austin for a luxury apartment corporation. On a job site, a coral snake in a stack of lumber latched onto the finger of a construction worker. He survived, after days in the hospital. And, that was back when antivenom was available.
Gary posted that favorite resting spots for snakes as the sun sets are warm sidewalks, concrete decks and porches, and garage floors.
Mountain Citians have available the snake relocation services (free) of Rick Thomas, 512-393-1986. If it’s feasible to place a bucket over the serpent and weight it, it can wait until Rick arrives after work.
Reminder: this is a good number to keep on hand. Even in east Texas, I quickly found it on my phone.

One day last week, Ron saw five hummingbirds splashing in our limestone boulder shallow “bird bath”. At the same time, he saw four hummers on a feeder just out the kitchen window.
