Ruth Elizabeth Martin (Warren), born Feb. 28, 1922, in Austin, TX, died at home, Monday, June 15, 2015.
Ruth was blessed to be independent for most of her 93 years; God has walked with her. As a wife, mother, sister and grandmother she has been the monarch of her family, the nucleolus. She will be greatly missed by all.
As a young lady, she was very active in sports, theater and was a student of Nation Youth administration (an organization that taught nursing skills to the youth at Brackenridge Hospital where the volunteered). She was a full-time housewife and mother, and after her children were gone she took care of her grandchildren. She provided a stable environment.
Ruth also volunteered with social workers to assist elderly citizens in need to complete paperwork for their needs. She drove to Lockhart, Luling, San Marcos and Dripping Springs to help people.
Ruth Eliz., as she liked to be called, was always there for her family, whether just a cup of coffee, to taking her mother around the world to visit relatives, she was always there. Her vast knowledge and teaching to her family will be greatly missed; The Good Lord gives us this angel for a short time in our lives – we will be lost without her.
She is survived by her daughter, Myrtle Ruth Wagner (Lucky Wagner), sisters Grace (and Bill) Brown, Florien (and Torn) Proffett, grandchildren: Christopher Jacobson, Mathew (and Peggy) Jacobson, Rod (and Annett) Jacobson, Jonathan Jacobson, Justin Jacobson, Billy Wagner, Glenn Lee (and Laine) Wagner.
She also has 11 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Alton Martin, son Edwin Bacon Jacobson, granddaughter Michelle Lisa Wagner, great great grandson August James Satton; mother Hazel L. Warren (Wallis), father George Washington Warren, brother Albert E. Warren, sisters, Rose Marie Scott (Reese) Warren & Georgia (Junie) Prewitt (Warren), nephew George (Skeet) Prewitt.
Friends may call at the Harrell funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 18. A Mass will be held at a later date.
