Starlight Symphony Orchestra auditions
Starlight Symphony Orchestra, a nonprofit orchestra in residence at the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center (PAC) in Kyle, is holding auditions for the 2015-2016 season for the following instruments: principle oboist, string players, percussionists. Auditions are also being held for any musician interested in serving on the sub list for all sections. To qualify, musicians must be an advanced high school player (prefer college or adult) and have a love of music. Rehearsals are from 7-9:15 p.m. Thursdays at the PAC. The concert season (October – July) includes 6-8 concerts with performances at the PAC and various locations around Hays County. Performances include well known classical and pops music selections. Some of the past repertoire included “The Planets” by Holst, “Coriolan Overture” by Beethoven, “New World Symphony” by Dvorak, and various movie and opera selections. The orchestra recently performed for thousands at the Kyle July 4th celebration. Auditions will be held from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Aug. 15. Locals make Dean’s List
The following local students have been named to the Dean’s List for the 2015 spring semester at Trinity University in San Antonio:

The Dean’s List honors Trinity students who maintained a grade point average of 3.65 or better while enrolled in a minimum of 15 semester hours. A total of 321 students earned this distinction in the spring.
