New staff at food bank
Hays County Food Bank welcomes two new members to the staff.
Melissa Reed and Chadwic Layne come to the Food Bank with real experience. Reed, who received her Bachelor of Arts from Emory University, brings seven years of nonprofit experience. her employment came right before the recent Memorial Day weekend flood, so she was able to jump right in and work on the food banks’ immediate demands.
Chadwic is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in both Afghanistan and Iraq. A graduate from St. Edwards with a BA in philosophy, he has organized his community peers into a grassroots associaition, advocating for positive community engagement.
The Hays County Food Bank always is in need of donations. Along with 40 partner agencies, it distributed 528,964 pounds of food to more than 18,000 residents in 2014.

New CFO for Texas State University
Texas State University has named Eric Algoe, a Florida State University finance administrator, as the new vice president for Finance and Support Services. His appointment begins Sept. 8.
Algoe will serve as the university’s chief financial officer and will advise the president and the president’s cabinet on matters related to finance, business operations, facilities management, campus construction and human resources.
“We are pleased to be adding a chief financial officer with Mr. Algoe’s wealth of experience and record of achievement to our ranks,” Texas State University President Denise M. Trauth said. “His role is critical to the university as it continues to grow and construction issues become more pronounced.”
