Did you know that the Buda Public Library is part of a partnership whose whole purpose is to get you access to more information? TexShare is a consortium of Texas libraries that have joined together to share materials and purchase online databases so that you (yes, you personally!) can have access to as much information as possible!
The TexShare Card allows you to get library cards from other libraries without having to pay a non-residency fee. To get a TexShare Card, just ask for one at the circulation desk. If you’ve been a member of our library for more than a month and have successfully checked out and returned an item within the past year, we’ll be happy to issue it to you! To use it, contact the library you’d like to join and ask what you’ll need to apply for a card with your TexShare Card. This will allow you to get accounts at Austin Public Library, University of Texas libraries, Texas State University-San Marcos libraries and many more for free!
Another part of this program is the TexShare Databases. This resource has over 60 databases that cover everything from newspapers to scholarly research to starting a new hobby to building a resume and so much more!
If we don’t have an item and you don’t want to drive around looking for it, ask to make an Interlibrary Loan request. Interlibrary Loans allow us to borrow books, audio books, and movies from libraries across Texas and the United States. It costs $2 per item (to help us with shipping costs) and can be requested for any item that’s been out for more than six months.
