Man accidentally shoots leg in vehicle at Kyle Elementary

The Kyle Police Department Tuesday responded to a call regarding a man who accidentally shot himself in the leg while waiting in his vehicle to pick up his child at Kyle Elementary School.
Tuesday’s incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. Kyle Police, along with the San Marcos/Hays County EMS, were dispatced to the scene.
The man, who has not been identified, was transported to University Medical Center Brackenridge in Austin. The man’s condition is unknown at this time.
Hays CISD officials report there was no threat to the campus and that everyone at Kyle Elementary was safe.
According to Kyle Police, the man was injured after the gun went off as he was moving it.
Kyle Police are still investigating the incident.
