The stage is set for an incumbent and a first-time candidate’s runoff for the Buda City Council Place 3 seat.
The Buda City Council Monday canvassed the Nov. 3 election results, and approved a runoff election to be held on Dec. 8. Both measures were approved by a 7-0 vote.
Buda’s Place 3 runoff will pit incumbent Jose Montoya against newcomer David Nuckels.
Montoya officially led the Nov. 3 election by receiving 245 votes, but did not receive the necessary 50 percent of the vote to win the seat outright. David Nuckels came in second, with 229 votes.
Early voting for Buda’s runoff election will run from Nov. 23 to Dec. 4 at Buda City Hall.
Proposition 1 results canvassed
Election results allowing for later alcohol sales in Buda were approved by the Buda City Council Monday.
By a 7-0 vote, the council approved a resolution canvassing the results of Proposition 1, which passed with 58 percent of the vote on Nov. 3.
Buda voters cast 378 votes for the measure, while 271 voted against.
The measure allows business owners with a mixed beverage late hours or an on premise late hours permit to sell and serve alcohol until 2 a.m.
