Scores of Lehman Lobo art student-created work is on its way to the Artists for Charity Children’s Home in Ethiopia, the final step in what started last school year as an Education Foundation funded grant. Lehman art teacher and grant recipient, Debra Flynn, brings word that her Lobo Art I students put the finishing touches on what started last spring as a Lehman High School National Art Honor Society project. “I am so proud of our kids, as they really did an awesome job!,” said Flynn of her art students who completed the project. According to the Home’s website, the project aims to provide a loving home for HIV-positive orphans and that it was the first of its kind in Ethiopia at a time when few other homes or orphanages were accepting HIV-infected children. The organization says the Lehman art project “uses art to transform children’s wings in hospitals and clinics.” (Photo by Jim Cullen)
