A Kyle man was killed and two other people were injured Thursday after an accident that involved three vehicles on the southbound Interstate 35 access road at Burleson Road.
According to a city of Kyle press release, the accident occurred at around 8pm Thursday.
Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased man, but said that the person was a Kyle resident. The Kyle Police Department continues to investigate the accident.
Kyle Communications Specialist Kim Hilsenbeck said she expects the access road at Burleson Road to be closed for several hours as the investigation continues. Traffic is being diverted onto City Lights Road.
According to a city press release, the accident occurred when a vehicle was turning off the access road onto Burleson Road when it was struck from behind by another vehicle.
The impact from that collision forced the vehicle making the turn into a third vehicle that was stopped at the Burleson Road stop sign waiting to enter the access road.
The vehicle stopped on Burleson Road was occupied by a male driver and a female passenger. The male driver in that car was pronounced dead at the scene. The female passenger was transported to Brackenridge Hospital in Austin with unspecified injuries.
One male who occupied the vehicle attempting the turn onto Burleson Road was transferred to Brackenridge Hospital with unspecified injuries.
The driver that struck the vehicle turning onto Burleson is reported to be uninjured.
