Prostitution arrest made at San Marcos massage parlor

Staff report

A San Marcos woman was arrested Wednesday for prostitution following a Hays County Narcotics Task Force investigation after she offered to perform a sexual act on an undercover detective in exchange for money.

According to a Hays County press release, authorities arrested Linan Wang, 59, of San Marcos on one count of Prostitution, which is a Class B misdemeanor. Wang was booked into the Hays County Jail Wednesday and was released Thursday on $2,000 bond.

Wednesday’s arrest occurred at Chi Massage, which is located in a shopping center at 1904 Old Ranch Road 12 just outside of the San Marcos city limits. Wang listed the business address as her home.

According to the release, officers received a tip last month that the business was advertising sexual services on social media outlets.

Investigation by officers revealed the existence of online reviews where various customers described in detail sexual services they allegedly received at the massage parlor.

During the arrest, officers noted numerous code violations at the parlor, according to the release. Authorities will begin the process of revoking business’ license to operate.

“Prostitution is not a victimless crime and officers will continue the investigation to attempt to uncover any leads that connect the business and its owners or associates with organized crime or human trafficking,” Wade Parham, commander of the Narcotics Task Force, said in a statement.
