Staff report
The Kyle Police Department will amplify patrols along Interstate 35 in Kyle on Monday in an effort to curb speeding and unsafe driving on the highway.
According to a city of Kyle press release, officers will conduct the patrols along I-35 and on the access roads in Kyle.
Under a grant by the Texas Department of Public Safety, Kyle Police will have additional officers on duty checking for speeders on the interstate.
According to Kyle Police Lt. Andre Marmolejo, several major accidents in recent months on I-35 were related to drivers going too fast on the highway.
“We encourage drivers to slow down and drive safely,” Lt. Andre Marmolejo said. “More enforcement along the highway will help drive that message home.
Along with patrolling the highway for speeders on Monday, Kyle Police officers will also check for aggressive and unsafe driving.
“We are giving everyone a heads up because we want you to slow down,” Marmolejo said. “Check your speed and remember to always drive safe.”
