The Hays CISD Board of Trustees Monday elected its president, vice president and secretary for the 2016-2017 school year.
The board first took a vote on the presidential position. Two individuals who received nominations were board trustee Holly Raymond and Merideth Keller, who served as president of the board during the 2015-2016 school year.
Board trustee Holly Raymond received the majority of votes and immediately assumed the presidential position.
Raymond was first elected to the Board of Trustees in 2012 and is a 1996 alumna of Hays High School.
Raymond is currently the chief financial officer for Common Threads, a non-profit organization that focuses on teaching nutrition and cooking skills to students and families in underserved areas.
The board then voted on the vice presidential position, which was won by Sandra Bryant unanimously and without opposition.
Bryant has been an active board member since she was elected in 2011. Bryant’s current employer is the Office of Employee Benefits and Finance for the University of Texas System Administration.
The board then voted trustee Teresa Tobias for the role as secretary.
Tobias and board trustee Bert Bronaugh Jr. were the two individuals nominated, with Tobias assuming the title.
She was elected to the board in 2014. Tobias has served on a variety of boards in Hays County, including the city of Kyle Parks and Recreation Board.
Her father-in-law, Rosalio Tobias, is the namesake for Tobias Elementary school located in Kyle.
