Damage to a culvert along Highway 21 that was caused by recent flooding from Hurricane Harvey is forcing Hays County and Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) officials to close the road next week.
According to a press release, all lanes of Highway 21 will be closed between High Road near Uhland and FM 2001 near Niederwald starting Sept. 5 at 9 a.m. The closure is expected to last until Monday, Sept. 11, weather permitting.
Eastbound traffic on Highway 21 will be detoured at High Road and westbound traffic will be detoured at FM 2001, according to the release.
TxDOT crews will make emergency repairs to the culvert, which collapsed during Hurricane Harvey.
Road signs have been placed to alert drivers of the closure, according to the release. Motorists are asked to allot extra time to travel through the area.
