Sue LaVoyce Miller Madden was called to Heaven on September 29, 2017 at 5:37 p.m. with her loving family by her side at her home in Buda, Texas. Sue was born on September 4, 1931 in Edcouch, Texas to Raymond Herman Miller and Esther Elizabeth (Scheideman) Miller. Sue graduated a year early from high school, married, and ran the office side of Madden Masonry, who built HEB stores and shopping centers across Texas. She was a longtime and active member of the PTA, Garden Club of Austin, State Federation Porcelain Art Clubs of Texas (President 1989-1990), and International Porcelain Artists and Teachers.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Esther Miller, her sister, Perry Jo Miller Hare, her husband of 58 years Earl Madden, and her grandson Nathan Shea Harper. She is survived by children, Earlene Pantel of Phoenix, AZ, Brenda Harper (Tommy) of Buda, TX, and Eddie Madden (Janice) of Dripping Springs, TX; grandchildren, Amber Harper, Sarah Hylander (David), Emily Madden, Joshua Harper (Tana), Trey Madden; great-grandchildren Parker Hylander, Luke Hylander, and Roarke Harper; sisters, Dolores Miller Wood of Grand Prairie, TX, Jakie Miller Shields of Mission, TX, Jimmy Miller (Doris) of Weslaco, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to Dr. Azim Shekarchi and his nurse Fran, Nurse Laurel Anderson and CNA Anna Champion from A-Med Hospice, special friend Laura Orina Snodgrass, as well as to Sue’s beloved caregiver, Mary Negrete.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M., Friday October 6, 2017 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel with Steve Collins officiating. Interment will be at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park. Please join the family for a reception afterwards.
