James Lee White, 78, husband of Betty Jane White for 53 years, passed away October 18, 2018 at his residence in Brenham.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 22, 2018 at Kyle Cemetery in Kyle, Texas. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
James Lee White was born February 6, 1940 in Carrizo Springs to James Grey and Sadie Rebecca Pruitt White. He was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Buda, Texas, where he also was married to Betty Jane Lowther on December 19, 1964.
Mr. White was educated in the Buda ISD Schools, and received degrees from Southwest Texas and Sam Houston State University. He was in education as a teacher/administrator for 35 years in Texas public schools, and as a Director of Education and Recreation at Brenham State School. Mr. White retired from Brenham I.S.D. as the Director of Special Education. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Brenham.
Survivors include his wife, Betty White; son, James R. “Dick” White; daughter and son-in-law Wendy L. and Barry Stubbs; brother and sister-in-law Royce and Shirley White; sister Lena Lovett; sisters-in-law Verba Lowther and Margaret Lowther; grandchildren: Dylan Lane Stubbs and Morgan Elizabeth Stubbs. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. White was preceded in death by his parents, James G. “Dick” and Sadie White; brother, Grey White; brother-in-law George Lovett; father-in-law and mother-in-law Robert and Mary Lowther; brothers-in-law Clyde “Buddy” Lowther, Bob Lowther, and Clay Lowther.
Serving as pallbearers are Dylan Stubbs, Keith Brock, Mark Lovett, John White, Scott White, Philip Kelley, and Mike Lowther. Paul Selman will be an honorary pallbearer.
Memorials may be directed to the Brenham First Baptist Church Building Fund or www.rettsyndrome.org, in honor of his granddaughter’s disability.
