On June 24, 1945, Brent Eugene Freitag was born to Reverend George and Dorothy Freitag of Bee Cave. He passed away in the presence of God, family and friends on April 16, 2019.
In his youth he enjoyed camping and water skiing with his family on Lake Travis, hunting and exploring the woods in Bee Cave and along Bee Creek; as well as, attending Camp Meeting at Camp Ben McCulloch every summer.
Brent joined the Marine Corps and married his childhood sweetheart, Darlene. Followed his military service he co-owned Longhorn Auto sales with his brother-in-law, Si Menem for 28 years. He enjoyed his memberships in the Colorado Masonic Lodge #96, Austin Scottish Rite, Ben Hur Shriners, Ben Hur Shrine Golf Unit, Royal Order of Jesters Court, and the Good Luck Poker Club. He often shared fond memories made with his son and nephews while members of the YMCA Indian Guides. Above all, Brent enjoyed being a grandpa to Drake “Little Buck”, and Derek “Smilin’ Jack”.
Side-by-side, Brent laid next to his beloved wife; Darlene Freitag as they began their next journey together. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy; father, Reverend George Freitag; brothers, Bobby, Billy, Boyd and his sister Betty Anderson.
He is survived by his son, Michael Freitag; daughter, Sandra McCarstle and husband Eric; grandchildren; Drake Bartz and Derek Bartz; grandchildren of the heart, Kade and Kamden McCarstle; brother, Boyce Freitag and his wife Jody; sister-in-law, Bonnie Menem and countless cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and three precious great-great nephews and a niece.
Brent, a true Texan at heart, had an infectious laugh, a larger than life persona, and a smile that made your heart feel safe.
