Allison Christine (Christy) Alexander Henry, a dedicated mother, dynamic educator, compassionate volunteer and driven individual, passed away unexpectedly in Austin, Texas at the age of 45.
Christy was born to Marilyn and Samuel Alexander in Muskogee, Oklahoma on November 4th, 1974. She was an only child which caused her to form close relationships with her friends throughout her life. She was a spirited student, accomplished pianist, talented tennis player, gymnast and cheerleader in high school. She made nationals in cheerleading, and also made the All-State tennis team. Christy graduated in 1993 from Brownfield High School, in Brownfield, TX. She started college at the University of Tulsa and walked on the tennis team, she changed focus and became a Red Raider graduating from Texas Tech in 1998 with a degree in education. She was an active member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority as well as Golden Key Honor Society. She went on to earn her masters from UT Arlington in 2012 in Curriculum and Instruction.
Christy always had the energy and drive to inspire others. She put that drive to use as a teacher and instructional coach. Beginning her career at Wallace Middle School, moving onto Luling School district, then to Hays ISD where she was recognized as teacher of the year in 2013, and most recently moving to Austin Region 13 Education Service Center. Very little held Christy back and every obstacle was an opportunity to leap forward. She was an amazing, nurturing mother to two wonderful girls. She poured love and compassion into them and taught them how to care for the less fortunate through volunteering with them at homeless kitchens and assisting with the Wimberly flood. She would do anything for her girls and instilled a legacy which will always be cherished. Christy loved her essential oils which perfumed the air of her home. She also loved her dogs Tessa and Mae had a penchant for dogs, cheese and pickles and was legendary at fantasy football which she won at a couple times.
Christy is survived by her daughters; Cambria and Jordan Henry, her parents Samuel Alexander and Marilyn Cheek, her step-mother Sharon Alexander, step-sisters Samantha Stockley and Meagan Alexander, aunts Hettie Charboneau and Myra Starr, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her ex-husband Greg Henry and his partner Lisa Salganik along with her loving, lifelong friends.
